This private tour focuses on visiting some of Corfu’s most important religious landmarks, combining history, architecture, and some of the island’s most iconic locations. The experience begins in Corfu Town with a visit to the Church of Agios Spyridon, the most significant church on the island, dedicated to its patron saint. The church stands out for its Venetian architecture and its distinctive bell tower, the tallest in Corfu. Inside, the relics of Saint Spyridon are preserved in a silver sarcophagus, while the interior features detailed frescoes and a marble iconostasis, reflecting the island’s long-standing religious tradition. The tour then continues to the Kanoni area, one of the most photographed spots in Corfu, where you will view Pontikonisi, a small, green islet with the Byzantine church of Pantokrator at its center. The setting offers a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural significance, with views across the Ionian Sea and the surrounding coastline. Nearby, you will visit the Monastery of Panagia Kassopitra, a historic religious site dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Built on the remains of an ancient temple, the monastery reflects different periods of the island’s history. Its peaceful courtyard, restored frescoes, and religious icons create a calm and authentic setting, still active and visited by locals. The experience concludes at the Monastery of Paleokastritsa, located on a hill above one of Corfu’s most impressive coastal landscapes. Dating back to the 13th century, the monastery features traditional architecture, well-kept gardens, and interior spaces with religious artifacts and icons. A small museum within the monastery offers insight into monastic life on the island, while the surrounding views over the Ionian Sea make this final stop one of the highlights of the route.
