This cycling tour through the historic center and surrounding neighborhoods of Corfu Town is one of the most enjoyable and effortless ways to discover the character of the city while exploring hidden corners beyond the typical visitor routes. We begin our ride at the lively open fruit and fish market, where vendors display their fresh local produce and seafood, offering a glimpse into the everyday rhythm of Corfiot life. From there, we cycle through the maze-like alleys of the Old Town, passing between the tall Venetian buildings that have defined the city’s architecture since the 16th century. Along the way we pause at some of the most important historical landmarks, enjoying the calm atmosphere of the town before the streets become busy and the temperature begins to rise. Depending on the pace and mood of the group, the ride may continue towards Kanoni, where we admire the iconic 17th-century Vlacherna Monastery and watch airplanes approach the nearby airport lagoon, flying impressively close overhead. A few kilometers further, we enter the lush gardens of Mon Repos, once the summer residence of the former Greek royal family and the birthplace of Prince Philip of Great Britain. After visiting the oldest church in Corfu, built in 1005, we continue cycling along the elegant Garitsa Bay, where impressive yachts often rest beneath the morning sun. As the town gradually comes to life, we conclude the tour with a relaxing stop at one of Corfu Town’s most charming and photogenic cafés, the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing drink and reflect on a memorable ride through history and local culture.
