North of Corfu, the Diapontia Islands introduce a different rhythm to the Ionian Sea. Here, space opens up, the coastline becomes softer, and the sea feels calmer and less travelled. Othonoi, the largest of the island group, shapes the first impression. Small bays, pale beaches, and clear water form a coastline that feels open and unpressured. Ammos unfolds gently toward the sea, while nearby Aspri Ammos stands out for its light sand and transparent shallows. Time here is unstructured — inviting swimming, drifting, and moments of stillness within a landscape that asks for nothing in return.

Further along, Erikousa appears with a softer, greener profile. Sheltered waters and a relaxed shoreline create an easy, natural rhythm, where the sea and the coast exist in quiet balance. Life follows the pace of the harbor and the surrounding nature, offering a sense of calm continuity rather than activity.

The journey settles at Mathraki, the smallest of the three islands, where the landscape feels closer to the water and more intimate in scale. Shallow beaches and open stretches of sea provide a final pause, untouched and understated. As the light shifts and the sea softens, the experience comes together as a composed passage through one of the Ionian’s least altered island groups.
